5) Confucius Institute at University of Central Lancashire
UCLan Confucius Institute is a partnership between University of Central Lancashire, Beijing International Studies University, and Hanban, and is located on the 3rd floor of Fylde Building, University of Central Lancashire, Fylde Road, Preston. Since its establishment in 2008, UCLan Confucius Institute has been working closely with local education authorities, schools, and colleges by supporting their provision of Chinese language and culture courses and taster days. To date, over 150 students have visited China to study Chinese language and culture with the financial help of UCLan Confucius Institute. In addition, over 60 headteachers and heads of departments from schools in the Lancashire area have participated in sponsored educational visits to China with the opportunity to learn about the Chinese education system, both academic and vocational routes, and observe teaching methods, as well as exchanging ideas with Chinese education leaders and establishing links with Chinese schools.

6) Confucius Institute at the University of Manchester
The University of Manchester is the proud home of the 2nd Confucius Institute in the UK, a partnership between the University of Manchester, the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) and Beijing Normal University. The Institute received its approval from Hanban in July 2005 and was formally launched in October 2006. Manchester CI has two agendas: language teaching and teacher training; promoting the understanding of Chinese culture and contemporary China. In less than 2 years’ time, we managed to establish ourselves as the centre of Chinese language learning and the hub of Chinese culture in the North West.
