Introduction

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Master degree in Business Administration (HKUST MBA) program nurtures global leaders who can speak their minds and work well with others in a wide range of cultural contexts. HKUST MBA will develop your ability to manage a career successfully in the global economy, and operate a business effectively in the Chinese context.

As a student in our MBA program, you will benefit from the rich experience and diverse viewpoints of our internationalized faculty and develop close relationships with peers from all parts of the world. You will also gain new perspectives from field trips in Asia, and have the opportunity to participate in an exchange to another leading business school in the region of your choice.

HKUST MBA Curriculum

The curriculum is composed of 52 credits, with around 60% gained through studying required courses and the remaining 40% though elective courses.

Students are expected to complete the MBA in 16 months. Those with considerable work experience and international exposure may join the accelerated 12-month option upon approval at admissions.

12-month Option
The general criteria for eligibility for completing the program in 12 months are strong work experience and significant international exposure. Approval for the shorter duration is given on an individual basis at the discretion of the MBA Office.

16-month Option
With largely the same curriculum as the 12-month program, the full 16-month program includes an optional internship in the first summer and an Exchange Program in the fall of the second year. All 16-month full-time students are guaranteed a place in the exchange program, which will enhance their international exposure and help them develop a more global perspective.

Electives comprise over 40% of the curriculum and let you delve more deeply into the subjects that matter most to you and your future. A mix of full-time, part-time and exchange-in students take electives together to encourage integration and experience sharing. Students joining the international exchange program can take electives in partner schools and transfer the credits back to HKUST.
Over 70 electives are available in the HKUST MBA program, provided along 5 career tracks to allow greater flexibility in tailoring studies to meet your career goals.

Scholarships

Various scholarships and awards are available to our full-time MBA students. Scholarships offered by the MBA Office or other donors are used to settle program fees, living expenses, etc.

Admission Requirements

1) A strong bachelor degree;
2) A satisfactory GMAT score (Learn more about GMAT);
3) A minimum two years of full-time work experience after the first degree; and
4) A good TOEFL2/IELTS result if English was not your language of instruction at the undergraduate or postgraduate level
