Introduction
Shenzhen Shiyan Public School was founded in April of 1995. It is one of the first schools run by a partnership between local government and private companies to be authorized by Guangdong Province Education Department. Mr. Qiao Shude was the first headmaster.
Shiyan Public is situated near Shiyan Lake at the foot of Yangtai Mountain. The school’s campus covers 132,000 square-meters with more than 83,000 square-meters of building space. The school has a kindergarten (which includes an early-education center), an elementary school, a middle school, a high school and a new International section. There are 128 classes. There are more than 5,100 students and 580 teachers.
In 2003, Shiyan Public was promoted to a first-class school of Guangdong province. It was the first school in Shenzhen and the second private school in Guandong province to receive that distinction. In 2007, Shiyan Public was designated a “National-Level Green School” by the National Ministry of Education and the National General Administration of Environmental Protection.
Shenzhen Shiyan Public School has more than 580 faculty members from all over China. There are 380 full-time, specialized teachers; 10 teachers who have earned the highest teaching rank; 150 senior teachers; five foreign teaches; two teachers with PhDs; one teacher with a subsidy given by the State department; eight National Excellent Teachers, and 50 Provincial Excellent Teachers. We also have teachers with the title of Head Teacher or Senior level Teacher.
