Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine
Founded in 1956, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine (GZUCM) is originally known as Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is one of the four oldest TCM higher education institutes in China and one of the first higher education institutes approved to award master and doctorate degree in China. At present, there are around 23,000 students and 4668 faculties.
Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine has developed into a bustling university with two campuses (San Yuan Li Campus in Baiyu district and Higher Education Mega Center Campus in Panyu district), 14 schools, 4 directly-affiliated hospitals, 17 indirectly-affiliated hospitals, 1 jointly-built hospital and 20 national key featured clinical care departments, which have made great contribution to the health care of people in Guangdong province and China as a whole with its reputable clinical care service. In 2009, the annual outpatient visit of our affiliated hospitals comes to over 8 million and the annual inpatient visit reaches over 90,000.
Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine offers varied programs from Bachelor degree, Master degree, Doctoral degree, to postdoctoral studies. For study in Bachelor degree, GZUCM has 16 programs in Medicine, Sciences, Engineering, Administration, Economics, Arts and Education. Among these, study of Chinese Medicine, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Tuina, Pharmaceutical Engineering are four branded Bachelor programs in GZUCM. For the postgraduate education, it boasts 19 doctoral degree programs in Chinese Medicine, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Integration of Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine, 24 master degree programs in Chinese Medicine, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Integration of Chinese Medicine and China as a whole with its reputable clinical care service.
From 1974, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine begins to receive foreign students and students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan and up to now, thousands of students from all over the world come to study in GZUCM. The International Conferences of Chinese Medicine hosted by GZUCM and Guangdong Provincial TCM Museum have become the window for TCM development overseas.
International students should have reached a certain level of Chinese language proficiency before they can apply to Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine since all programs are taught in Chinese. After completing all of the courses, bachelor degree will be awarded to the qualified students. Since the situation in each year is different, some of the programs for international students may be changed or canceled.
