Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine
Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine (NJUCM) was founded in 1954 and is one of China’s earliest established higher institutions of Chinese Medicine. NJUCM provided the first wave of teachers, compiled the first series of textbooks and created the first edition of syllabus for the higher education of Chinese Medicine within China, and for the last six decades, it has enjoyed the reputation as "the cradle of China's higher education of Chinese Medicine" both at home and abroad.
Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine now has two campuses located in Xianlin and Hanzhongmen of Nanjing, together covering an area of over 100 hectares. It boasts 10 directly affiliated schools, 32 affiliated hospitals, and over 100 training and internship bases. NJUCM offers 28 undergraduate programs, covering six disciplines including medicine, management, science, engineering, economics, and humanities. It has 47 master programs, 32 doctor programs and 3 post-doctoral programs, with over 20,000 students at various levels on campus.
Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine has produced a great number of prestigious scholars and experts whose reputation has spread both domestically and internationally, including 12 Masters of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and 5 Academicians of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Since the university’s foundation, it has cultivated over 30,000 advanced professionals in Chinese Medicine for the country.
Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine is WHO Collaborating Center for Traditional Medicine designated by the World Health Organization, and is International Acupuncture Training Center approved by the Ministry of Health, and is one of the first advanced Chinese Medicine institutions authorized by the Ministry of Education to enroll international students as well as students from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. It has established partnership with higher education institutions, government agencies and academic groups in many countries and regions, which demonstrated its international influence.
Nanjing International Education College is responsible for enrollment and administration of overseas students for the programs of Bachelor, Master, PhD and other various short-term training courses. This college is a teaching unit within the NJUCM and comprises of various general and individual services. It has a strong academic staff, experienced in both theory and clinical training. All the teachers are well versed in the history and development of TCM and acupuncture, and understand international students' individualities and specific requirements. As a result, classes are well organized, combining both theory courses and clinical practice.
International students should have reached a certain level of Chinese language proficiency before they can apply to Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine since all programs are taught in Chinese. After completing all of the courses, bachelor degree will be awarded to the qualified students. Since the situation in each year is different, some of the programs for international students may be changed or canceled.
